Our Story
Our mission here at Friarly is to show how attractive and fulfilling the life of a Dominican Friar and a preacher can be when embraced passionately and for the sake of Christ.

Preaching Friars, and now Friarly, started as a classroom project back in the Fall of 2010. We wanted to promote the preaching of our student friars who have the opportunity every weekend to preach on the readings from the Lectionary.
Since then our vision has changed and we have focused on this question: How can we as student friars help young men discern their calling, especially if it might be to our Friarly Life? But also, how can we show that the spirituality of a Dominican Friar is simply a deepening of Christian spirituality? Our life of Prayer, Common Life, Study and Preaching is what is asked of all Christians, not merely Dominicans. We are all in our own way, meant to be 'friarly.'
This website is our answer.
Here on Friarly we hope to engage with men and women around the world and to show them the passion we bring for this Friarly Life as Dominicans.
Of special importance is the regular preaching that our student brothers do each week. It is here that prayer, the common life, and study all meet their purpose: preaching and the salvation of souls. It is for this that the Order was founded and it is this mission that we seek to participate in more fully.
This project is a collaborative effort of the Dominican Student Brothers of St. Dominic Priory in St. Louis, MO. The studium comprises members of the Province of St. Martin de Porres (Southern) and the Province of St. Albert the Great (Central).

“Everything, even sweeping, scraping vegetables, weeding a garden and waiting on the sick
could be a prayer, if it were offered to God.”
