Plan your Visit
Throughout the year we invite young men to come and visit the Dominican Studium & Centre for Institutional Studies located in St. Louis, MO to see what our life of prayer, community, study and preaching really looks like.
What to ExpectWhen you first come to realize God may be calling you to serve Him as a priest or brother, it seems as though you are the only person in the world with a vocation. Talking about it with your friends can be helpful to a certain point, but often your questions just don’t seem to make sense to them.
This is where the Come and See Weekend can really make an impact on your discernment process. The weekend brings together men like yourself. These men share many of your questions and concerns. Often meeting other men in the same situation as yourself makes the whole discernment process a lot easier and less intimidating. In addition, the opportunity to meet and socialize with our friars, novices and student brothers also helps in seeing whether religious life is really for you. Your time at St. Dominic Priory and Studium will give you the chance to enter into the daily schedule and rhythm of a Dominican priory, to grow in your knowledge of the history and tradition of St. Dominic and the Order of Preachers, opportunities to meet and talk with the friars, both priests and student brothers, and the time to grow closer to our Lord in the Mass, the Divine Office, and adoration. During the weekend you and the other participants will have an opportunity to: • Join the friars in their prayer and liturgical life • Socialize with friars and student brothers • Participate in presentations and discussions on the vows and the reality of living religious life • Come to a deeper understanding of Dominican spirituality and mission |

Br. John Steilberg, O.P. | The Vocation of the Cooperator Brother
Br. John Steilberg, OP, is a Cooperator Brother assigned to St. Dominic Priory in St. Louis, MO. This vocation is not less Dominican than that of the priests, nor is it only incidental to the mission of the Order. Truly, as the former Master of the Order, Bruno Cadore has said, '(The ordained brother and the non-ordained brother) are two expressions of the same vocation.' Br. John shares some insights and hard truths with the vocation candidates at our recent Come & See.
